Why is the app called ''Open Source University"?

OS.University (in short) is a 'platform-as-a-service' solution, not an institutional entity.

OSU team believes that learners in the digital age should be able to crowdsource their studies from different providers, instead of learning behind closed doors under the existing educational vendor lock-in model.

Thus, we provide the platform solution to enable the distributed educational experiences of the future in the absence of a centralized register. Blockchain serves as a global registry for accomplishments and achievements which are made available for orchestration through OSU.

Our name describes what we envision for the future of life-long learning - a decentralized 'University' with an open-source setup in which institutions, businesses and individuals can co-create learning pathways, while validating and verifying the progress achieved along the way in real-time, broadcasting it globally with the power of blockchain technologies.
